The Piping Supervisor (Heavy Engineering) will oversee all piping fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities for heavy engineering projects. The role ensures work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in heavy industrial piping, team leadership, and project execution.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all activities related to piping fabrication, installation, and testing.
- Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, codes (ASME, ANSI, API), and project specifications.
- Monitor and enforce safety standards and company HSE policies on-site.
- Plan and schedule piping work to meet project deadlines and milestones.
- Inspect materials, piping components, and welds to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other supervisors to resolve technical issues.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the piping team, including fitters, welders, and foremen.
- Maintain accurate records of work progress, material usage, and inspection reports.
- Identify risks and propose corrective actions to prevent delays or quality issues.
- Support commissioning and start-up activities, including hydrostatic testing, flushing, and pre-commissioning of piping systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in heavy engineering projects, with strong experience in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, codes, standards, and heavy engineering practices.
- Experience with fabrication shops, construction sites, and offshore/onshore projects is an advantage.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret piping drawings, isometrics, and P&IDs.
- Familiarity with quality assurance, welding procedures, and NDT practices.
Education and Experience:
- Pipefitting Qualification.
- Professional certifications in ship repair, project management (e.g., PMP), or safety (e.g., NEBOSH) are highly desirable.
Working Environment:
- Standard Office Environment. May be required to travel and/or have overnight trips. Hours worked may exceed regular schedule.
Physical Effort:
- Little chance of injury. Duties may involve sitting, standing, keyboarding with frequent flexible breaks.
