Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and monitor the work of electricians and electrical technicians on heavy engineering projects.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with company standards, local codes, and international safety regulations.
  • Plan, schedule, and allocate resources for electrical tasks to meet project timelines.
  • Oversee installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, including power distribution, control panels, motors, drives, and other heavy electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues, providing technical guidance to the team.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, instrumentation) to coordinate project activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical work, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and promote a culture of safety awareness within the team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in electrical work within heavy engineering, industrial, or construction projects.
  • Proven experience in supervising teams and managing electrical projects.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industrial motors, switchgear, PLCs, control panels, and power distribution.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards, regulations, and codes.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.

Education and Experience

  • Electrical Qualification 18th Edition (desirable)
  • Professional certifications in ship repair, project management (e.g., PMP), or safety (e.g., NEBOSH) are highly desirable.
