Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and monitor the work of electricians and electrical technicians on heavy engineering projects.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with company standards, local codes, and international safety regulations.
- Plan, schedule, and allocate resources for electrical tasks to meet project timelines.
- Oversee installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, including power distribution, control panels, motors, drives, and other heavy electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues, providing technical guidance to the team.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, instrumentation) to coordinate project activities.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical work, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed and promote a culture of safety awareness within the team.
- Mentor and train team members to enhance technical skills and professional development.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in electrical work within heavy engineering, industrial, or construction projects.
- Proven experience in supervising teams and managing electrical projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industrial motors, switchgear, PLCs, control panels, and power distribution.
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards, regulations, and codes.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
Education and Experience
- Electrical Qualification 18th Edition (desirable)
- Professional certifications in ship repair, project management (e.g., PMP), or safety (e.g., NEBOSH) are highly desirable.
