Job Title: PROJECT CONTROL ENGINEER

Department: Carbon Capture Storage – Development

Location: Based at construction sites & offices in Northop

Reports to: WORK PACKAGE MANAGER

Purpose:

To support the Package Manager in controlling contractor performances and assisting the Project Control Department in preparing and updating package/contract schedules and reporting activities.

Main Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Package Manager (PM) in managing the project controls function for the allocated Work Package(s).
  2. Attend meetings with contractors and perform site visits.
  3. Maintain and update the Package control schedule and support the Project Control Department to integrate it into the overall LBCCS schedule.
  4. Provide the PM and Project Control Department with progress reports, including schedule updates, KPIs, forecasts to complete, variance analysis, and opportunities for improvement.
  5. Monitor and ensure project compliance with contractual obligations and procedural requirements.
  6. Verify contractor progress and payment applications.
  7. Assist the package team in developing action plans to prevent cost and schedule overruns through Value Engineering.
  8. Support review and challenge of forecast trend analysis for schedule and costs.
  9. Analyze project deliverables to review and challenge forecasted man-hours to complete.
  10. Review forecasts with the Project Manager/Engineering Leadership Team.
  11. Monitor project performance and present results to the package team.
  12. Prepare reports analyzing project progress during development or execution stages.
  13. Manage the database for project lessons learned.
  14. Maintain detailed change management records and support WPM in evaluating change orders.
  15. Assist WPM in monitoring progress on permitting activities.

Main Interfaces (Relationships):

Internal: Work Package team, Project Control Department, Engineering Department, HSE

External: Contractors, Local authorities

Education & Professional Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred; Good knowledge of English (both written and spoken).

Required Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of project controls tools and principles.
  • Relevant experience as a Planner in the Oil & Gas industry, particularly with operating companies.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6.
  • Experience with SharePoint; experience with tools like Assai, Xflow is beneficial.
  • Understanding of challenges and opportunities in transitioning from oil and gas to low carbon energy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project Execution / Project Controls.
