Role Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with proven experience in Primary substation design to support ongoing transmission and distribution projects. The role involves delivering high-quality technical designs, ensuring compliance with UK standards, and contributing to project milestones within a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed designs for primary substation systems
- Develop equipment specifications, cable calculations, earthing designs, and interface documentation
- Ensure designs comply with DNO/TSO standards, BS/IEC regulations, and project-specific requirements
- Support design reviews, technical assurance processes, and multidisciplinary coordination
- Provide technical input across project stages from concept through to construction support
Requirements
- Strong background in primary electrical design within transmission, distribution, or utility sectors
- HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering
- Proficiency with relevant design tools (AutoCAD, EPlan, ETAP, DigSILENT or similar)
- Understanding of protection schemes, substation layouts, and system integration
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with occasional site visits
