About the Role
My client is a leading specialist in the delivery of large-scale data centre projects across Europe, providing full turnkey solutions from design through to construction and commissioning. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP/CSA) to join their project team in Blyth, United Kingdom.
This role is responsible for managing the commercial aspects of projects, ensuring costs are effectively controlled, value is maximised, and financial objectives are achieved throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of the project lifecycle.
- Prepare, review, and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
- Lead the procurement process, including subcontractor selection, tendering, and contract negotiations.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, including valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Support Project Managers, Package Managers, and site teams with cost management and commercial advice.
- Ensure all contractual documentation is maintained and kept up to date.
- Attend commercial meetings, site meetings, and project review meetings.
- Evaluate and process change orders and manage contract variations.
- Prepare and submit interim valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
- Provide commercial guidance and support to the wider project team.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms, conditions, and company procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for senior management.
- Proactively identify and resolve commercial and contractual issues.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within the construction industry.
- Strong experience managing the commercial aspects of large-scale construction projects.
- Proven track record in cost control, procurement, and contract administration.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and financial management skills.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Experience within data centres, industrial, or other mission-critical projects is advantageous.
