NES Fircroft are currently recruiting a Waste POD Project Manager / Facilitator on behalf of our client, a global name in the Science and Agricultural Technology industry. This is an initial 12-month temporary contract opportunity with potential for long-term work. Working 36hrs per week, Mon-Fri. Candidates can be based at either the client’s Grangemouth or Huddersfield sites full-time, though some travel will be required between both locations.

Role Purpose

To drive identified projects ideas on waste cost reduction and waste valorisation across the UK manufacturing to fully developed business cases targeting savings of £1 million per year.

Accountabilities

  • Project delivery - Own end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent waste management projects across two UK manufacturing sites, rapidly delivering measurable reductions in waste volume and cost or recovery of valuable components. Create clear business cases for capital and operational expenditure and deliver “no-cost” proposals through to realised benefit.
  • Stakeholder management - Align and engage cross-functional stakeholders (HSEQ, Engineering, Operations, Finance, third parties) to maintain project momentum and remove blockers.
  • Reporting and KPIs - Maintain clear project status reporting; track and report waste performance metrics.
  • Risk management - Identify project and environmental risks and drive mitigation actions to closure.
  • Technology and process evaluation – Work with SMEs to perform data analytics, create clear and robust process maps, and assess and recommend appropriate solutions with consideration of capital cost, reliability, and long-term viability.
  • Knowledge transfer - Document lessons learned across projects and share best practice between the two sites.

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

  • Drive and pace - Proven ability to push projects through ambiguity and competing priorities without losing pace; gets things done with urgency.
  • Influence without authority - Can engage and align senior stakeholders, site leadership, and technical teams who don't report to them.
  • Communication - Translates technical complexity into clear, concise messages for non-technical audiences (Operations, Finance, Leadership).
  • Conflict resolution - Handles disagreements between sites, functions, or contractors constructively and keeps projects moving.
  • Adaptability - Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously with shifting priorities and incomplete information.

Critical knowledge

  • Technical Background - Degree-level qualification in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Working knowledge of chemicals manufacturing and regulatory environment.
  • Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts related to waste and production.

Critical experience

  • Demonstrated track record of ownership in continuous improvement delivery in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Experience managing capital or operational projects in a regulated environment.
