NES Fircroft continue to partner with a global power cabling leader, actively sourcing for an Environmental Manager on a high profile UK framework. The role will be based remotely with occasional travel to site. The successful candidate will report to the Project Installation Manager and will be supported by Environmental Clerk of Works and external consultancies providing specialist environmental support to ensure the clients' interests are met. The position is available to start immediately for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain regular contact with the Client’s Environment and Consents Teams and external environmental consultancy to ensure all environmental consent, legal and contractual requirements are understood and communicated.
  • Ensure that requirements in the Contractors environmental management system documents such as the project Construction Environmental Management Plan, and such other plans are implemented on site as approved by the Client.
  • Attendance at site meetings and external stakeholder meetings.
  • Ensure all environmental documentation is project specific.
  • Ensure incidents are reported and investigation is completed and closed out.
  • Produce environmental statistics as requested by the Employer, raise Non-Conformance Reports, investigate, and close out with plans for improvements.
  • Promote a culture of continual improvement for the environment, including inspections, completion of actions, training, implementation of lessons learnt, etc.
  • Ensure legal registers, environmental constraints, surveys and schedules are up to date and changes communicated.
  • Regularly review risk register and ensure significant risks are communicated to the Employer.
  • Ensure personnel with key environment related responsibilities are competent and aware of relevant procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate environmental training of contractor’s team is current and training records are up to date.
  • Assist in ensuring chemical risk assessments are completed where required and chemical management is in line with COSHH requirements.
  • Review environmental documentation, accepting feedback from Employer in relation to legal, consent or Employer requirements.
  • Engage a small site team and other specialist consultants and subcontractors.

Candidate requirements:

  • Degree / diploma or equivalent in Environmental Management.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in Environmental and consents Management.
  • Have active Continual Professional Development as an Environmental Manager.
  • Previously held management positions on HVDC / Renewable Energy projects.
  • Experienced in delivering construction phase environment and consents requirements for Development Consent Order projects and/or major UK infrastructure projects.
  • Fully conversant in environmental laws, legislation, permits, approvals, notices and consents.
  • Competent in producing and applying Environmental Plans and Procedures.
  • Must be client facing and feel comfortable managing tier contractors.
  • Must be proactive, self-motivated and work well in a team.
  • Previous offshore environmental management experience is a distinct advantage for applicants.
  • Competent in the English language and Microsoft Office.
