We are seeking experienced Technical Safety Engineers (minimum 10 years' experience) to deliver qualitative and quantitative risk and safety studies across industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, distilleries, and alternative energy. The role involves working on diverse projects nationally and internationally, with occasional travel within the UK and abroad.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to technical safety projects, ensuring high-quality delivery.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Apply hazard identification, assessment, and evaluation techniques (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie).
- Perform functional safety studies (e.g., FSA, FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis).
- Conduct consequence modelling for fire, explosion, and toxic gas using specialist software (e.g., PHAST, FRED).
- Undertake QRA and other technical safety studies using commercial tools (e.g., SAFETI, SHEPHERD).
- Manage large-scale CFD projects using HPC and cloud computing.
- Carry out RAM studies, DSEAR/ATEX compliance, and hazardous area classification.
- Support human factors and safety culture initiatives.
- Assist with project planning, proposal writing, and bid coordination.
Requirements
- Degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in technical safety engineering.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
- Broad experience or specialism in one or more of the following areas:
- Safety Cases, HSE MS, ALARP, SIMOPS
- Hazard identification and risk assessment techniques
- Functional safety and reliability studies
- Consequence modelling and QRA
- Human factors and safety culture
