This would be a hybrid role (3 in office – Mon to Wed; 2 at home)
We are currently looking for a diligent & detail orientated Designer Engineer/Draughtsperson, to join the team on a full time, permanent basis.
You will have the skills and experience to develop tooling designs from concept through to detailed design, manufacture, assembly and testing. The successful candidate will support IRM, Decommissioning and Pile cleaning, dredging and cutting services. The designer role sits within the global engineering team, focusing on developing, enhancing and sustaining tooling designs in support of a range of energy infrastructure projects from Installation and Commissioning services associated with offshore windfarms to Inspection, Repair, Maintenance and Decommissioning services across the energy industry.
Work will predominately be office based in the Westhill area. However when required local, national and international travel may be requested to attend offices and work sites both on and offshore, in support of product and project delivery and operations.
Duties/Responsibilities
â Perform 3D and 2D design activities in support of the development, commercialisation and sustaining of products, technologies and associated systems
â Interpret functional and technical specifications in order to produce the best design solution to satisfy project requirements, considering: timescale; cost; safety; client, and industry standards
â Perform design and development, check and review activities in accordance with quality management system processes and procedures
â Support assembly, commissioning and testing of company equipment onsite and offsite
â Contribute conceptual design work and CTR input in support of the composition of proposal documents
â Offer support and technical guidance to members of the engineering, projects, operations, supply chain, sales and commercial teams to aid the growth and development of the company
â Contribute to the development and maintenance of local and global design and development processes and procedures for the business unit
â Offer direct and indirect mentorship to developing designers, technicians, interns and work placement students
Required
â Flexible team player who also functions very well under own initiative, bringing creativity and efficiency to design output
â Cross functional contributor, working with engineering, operations, supply chain and quality functions to ensure design output considers all stakeholder
â Ideally with a practical background through work history or hobbies
â HND Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design (however a combination of HNC and relevant experience will be considered)
â Registration with a recognised professional body (e.g. IMechE, IET)
â Skilled in the use of 2D and 3D design packages for modelling, drawing and preparation for FEA analysis
â Experience of mechanical tooling design from developing concepts to creating detailed machining and fabrication drawing packs
â Knowledge and experience regarding well abandonment and subsea infrastructure decommissioning and associated tooling designs
â Knowledge and experience of offshore IRM work scopes and associated mechanical/hydraulic/electronic bespoke tooling design for diver and ROV operations
â Preferably with knowledge and experience of offshore windfarm installation and commissioning and developing associated tooling (e.g. marine growth removal, soil plug removal
