Our client, a leading offshore service company, is currently hiring a Mechanical Package Engineer (Rotating Equipment) to join the team.
Role Summary
The Mechanical Package Engineer (Rotating Equipment) reporting to the Mechanical & HVAC Lead will be an integral part of the PDE Project Management Team, working collaboratively within the PDE organization, systems, procedures, and methods. This role has been identified as a “Key Position” within the leading offshore project organization of PDE and it is required that She / He is available and willing to continue to work in this position from project phase into the EPC phase.
As part of FPSO redeployment there are various existing key rotating equipment packages which will be required to be overhauled and new rotating equipment purchased. It is expected that Mechanical Package Engineer (Rotating Equipment) will be responsible for package engineering aspects of the following packages (not all-inclusive list):
- LP compressor
- LLP compressor
- VOC recovery skid
- High pressure gas compressors (two existing stages and new 3rd stage – Both for gas lift and gas export)
- Water injection pumps
She / He is responsible and accountable towards PDE for design solution and all engineering activities within the Project towards mechanical packages assigned to her / him. She / He shall ensure that all relevant work internal and external in these disciplines related to the Project is executed to meet: Class, Flag and British Regulatory Requirements as per Regulatory Compliance Plan (RCP), Contract Requirements, Project Specifications, Codes and Standards.
She / He shall ensure that all project contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders prepared in the relevant areas / disciplines for future EPC execution of the defined work reflect the required regulatory requirements, standards and with Working Environment and Human Factor considerations.
Accountabilities
- Ensure that relevant activities within the discipline are within the company framework and in conformance with contract requirements, Project Execution Plan, and relevant laws and regulations.
- The health and safety of personnel, natural and working environment and equipment shall be taken care of.
- Work with PDE operations team as well as client to ensure clear guidance and clarifications are provided with regards to scope of work and specifically for life extension activities of mechanical equipment.
- Work with PDE operations team to assist Contractor to arrange for required condition assessment inspections by contractor and/or OEM.
- Work with PDE Regulatory Compliance & Verification Lead and Contractors to ensure that required compliance and verification activities for assigned packages are defined and executed as required.
- Participate in review of purchase order specifications, RFQs, vendor bid evaluations, bid clarification meetings up to clear recommendation/identification of vendor selection for assigned packages.
- Review and comment documents for assigned packages.
- Comment on the Mechanical design of assigned packages including arrangement on operability, functionality, accessibility, and maintainability to meet requirements in laws, regulations, class, flag, and contract.
- Responsible for IDC comments verification and approval of documents of assigned packages, shall conduct team reviews, and respond to relevant TQ’s or non conformances.
- Prepare Mechanical technical philosophies, specifications, documents, and drawings as required to clearly define the scope of work.
- Monitor and review Contractor’s Mechanical activities and deliverables to ensure compliance with all regulatory and contract requirements.
- Ensure compatibility and functionality of existing and new vessel systems and equipment.
- Participate in work pack review sessions as well as ensure that all work packs prepared by contractor are complete in terms of scope definition in relevant areas.
- Review comments from Certifying Authority on design of the Mechanical systems and assist in resolving issues.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZID’s, HAZOP’s and any other related safety studies.
- Report to the Mechanical & HVAC Lead any delays in progress under his/her area of responsibility.
- Report to the Mechanical & HVAC Lead any failure of design or gap between the delivered solution and the contract requirement, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Participate in meetings and inspections as required, worldwide.
- Coordinate Lessons Learned input to PDE Project management team.
- Close assigned Technical Query (TQ) and other Action Tracker items in PIMS or formal MOM.
- Collaborate closely with other key disciplines in the Project Management Team.
- Call off assistance from discipline resources within area of responsibility as needed to keep quality and progress.
- Other duties as required by the Mechanical & HVAC Lead.
Qualifications and Experience
- Technical education on bachelor level or higher within Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience within Mechanical package engineering discipline and strong track record of handling rotating equipment packages (specifically centrifugal and screw compressors, high pressure pumps, etc.).
- Specific experience of Project and early package engineering is desired.
- Recent experience of working on modification projects and/or FPSO redeployment is strongly desired.
- Recent experience of working in a similar role on UK North Sea projects will be an advantage.
- Strong leadership & interpersonal skills applied to a multidisciplined project team.
- Recent relevant experience in middle east / southeast Asian shipyards is an advantage.
- Diplomacy & assertiveness.
- Organized, Systematic & Flexible.
- English – fluent written and verbal skills.
