NES Fircroft is currently recruiting an Offshore Telecomms Technician on behalf of a leading Oil & Gas operator. This is an initial 12-month contract with the possibility of extension.
This position offers an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work offshore, supporting Telecomms across the Client\’s Southern North Sea Asset. The role operates on a shift rotation of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, with 12-hour shifts, reporting to the Telecomms Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a broad range of offshore Telecommunications systems, including but not limited to:
- Line of Sight Microwave Radio
- PAGA Systems
- IP-based networks
- Multiplexers
- Marine & Airband VHF Radios (Fixed and Portable)
- Maintenance of ATEX certified equipment (COMPEX Certified)
- Fibre Optic systems
- Weather monitoring systems
- Satellite Technology
- Entertainment systems
- Knowledge of Process Control Systems
- Experience with GOC/MOC processes, managing project works from design to installation and commissioning
- Perform scheduled maintenance on telecoms equipment
- Manage Telecoms Projects
- Supervise vendors and third-party contractors
- Understand performance standards & safety cases
- Follow permit to work procedures and use Maximo maintenance management systems
- Conduct EX inspections per UK procedures
- Repair equipment and systems, maintaining integrity
- Fault find independently and work under pressure
- Produce reports and recommendations
- Work within a team of multi-skilled technicians to maintain platforms safely
- Provide handovers and contribute to weekly reports
- Operate safety-critical systems competently
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years offshore experience with current offshore certification and medical
- Understanding of radio principles, propagation, multiplexing, and digital techniques, including microwave radio, fibre optics, multiplexers, satellite communications, marine/aero VHF, public address systems, telephone exchanges, IP networking, IT equipment, and ATEX requirements
- Preferred SUEPEE or COMPEX qualifications
