Role Description
This is a full‑time, on‑site Roofer role based in Gateshead. The Roofer will install, repair, and maintain various roofing systems, including slate, tile, and flat roofs, in both commercial and domestic settings. Daily tasks include preparing work areas, removing old roofing materials, fitting underlay and insulation, cutting and fixing roofing materials, and carrying out lead work, fascias, and soffits installation. The role involves working at height, operating hand and power tools safely, and following health and safety procedures at all times. The Roofer will also inspect roofs for damage, identify necessary repairs, provide basic job updates to supervisors, and maintain a clean, organized worksite. Collaboration with other roofers and trades, as well as occasional travel to sites across the North East, will be required.
Qualifications
- Practical roofing skills, including experience with slating, tiling, flat roofing, and basic lead work.
- Ability to install and repair fascias, soffits, and guttering, with attention to detail and finish quality.
- Strong awareness of health and safety, including safe work at height, use of PPE, and manual handling.
- Competence in using hand and power tools relevant to roofing and general construction tasks.
- Good problem‑solving skills to diagnose roof issues and identify appropriate repair methods.
- Reliable time management, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Previous experience as a Roofer or in a similar construction trade; NVQ or equivalent qualification in Roofing or Construction is beneficial.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to sites across the North East is an advantage.
