There is an opening for a Consultant or Senior Consultant to join the transport and infrastructure business. NERA's work covers all areas of the transport and infrastructure sector, driving improved outcomes through the rigorous application of microeconomic principles and techniques. We help transport and infrastructure operators and their associations, governments, governmental bodies, international agencies, and regulators.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a range of projects related to transport and infrastructure policy, regulation, market design, and transactions and disputes in the transport and infrastructure industries.
  • Take responsibility for delivery of a range of projects, including regulatory, advisory, and due diligence assignments, as well as expert engagements on arbitration and litigation matters.
  • Manage and conduct high‐powered economic research across the transport and infrastructure industries using sophisticated modelling techniques.
  • Write research reports and prepare client presentations that translate technical analysis into actionable recommendations for stakeholders, regulators and tribunals.
  • Design and conduct high‐quality empirical research across transport and infrastructure using advanced econometric, time‐series, simulation and financial‐modelling techniques.
  • Influence project strategy, including the preparation and presentation of oral and written submissions.
  • Collaborate with in‐house experts, academics and legal teams; represent the firm externally through papers, articles and conference presentations; contribute to knowledge‐sharing across the firm.
  • Build client relationships, identify commercial opportunities, draft proposals and support the growth of the business through targeted business‐development activities.
  • Supervise, mentor and recruit junior staff; promote continuous learning, methodological excellence and a collaborative team culture.
  • Travel when required.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should hold a Master's or PhD degree in Economics, Finance or a related discipline, with a strong academic record.
  • At least 4 years of prior relevant experience with a strong background in an economic consulting, government or regulatory setting.
  • Experience of writing consulting reports or expert reports for legal proceedings.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial attitude to developing contacts, relationships with clients and potential clients.
  • Native level English is required; other languages are desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and a passion for solving analytical and empirical problems with exceptional creative, critical thinking and technical skills.
