At Neptune, everything we make is designed to last - thoughtfully crafted pieces that feel good to live with and are made responsibly, from the very beginning. Behind every product is a deep commitment to quality, sustainability and integrity, and we are now looking for a Product Development Technologist & Compliance Officer to help us uphold these standards across our growing product portfolio.

This is a role for someone who cares deeply about how things are made, where they come from and how they stand the test of time. You will sit at the heart of our product journey, ensuring that every design is safe, compliant, beautifully executed and responsibly produced.

You will work closely with our Product, Design, Merchandising, Manufacturing and Operations teams - as well as our trusted suppliers - to ensure our products meet the highest technical, legal and ethical standards.

Your role will include:

  • Leading product compliance and quality from concept to launch, ensuring correct materials, tolerances, testing, packaging requirements, and robust documentation (BOMs, specifications, AIs, technical files) to guarantee safety, longevity, traceability, and quality.
  • Partnering closely with Category Managers, Designers, Legal, and the Head of Product at briefing, sampling, and implementation stages, supporting supplier selection, validation, and insight-led decision-making.
  • Staying ahead of evolving regulatory, legal, and testing requirements across all territories, managing relationships with auditors, test houses, and suppliers, and overseeing UKTR, EUDR, CLP, and other regulatory investments.
  • Maintaining ongoing compliance and quality through twice-yearly continuity reviews, pre-launch, drop, transit, and pre-shipment testing, and clearly defined testing and inspection standards.
  • Ensuring ethical, legal, and sustainable manufacturing and onward-selling practices, including supplier social auditing, red/amber/green reporting within the Qingdao factory, and championing sustainability initiatives across production and packaging.
  • Driving cross-functional collaboration on EPR submissions, PRNs, WEEE reporting, disposal metrics, and supporting Neptune Renewed projects with a strong focus on compliance, reporting, and continuous process improvement.

You will bring previous experience as a Furniture Product Technician, or similar, with experience working with Far East manufacturing and from-design products. We are looking for someone with strong knowledge of materials, packaging and manufacturing processes and a solid understanding of relevant regulations and standards, including Materials & Articles in Contact with Food, Low Voltage and BSI.

You will also have confidence working with technical drawings and BOMs, with experience in hard goods and lighting being highly beneficial. Ideally, you will also have past experience visiting factories and suppliers and it is important that you are proactive and solutions-focused with a collaborative, calm and confident approach to working with others and the ability to present clearly and influence at all levels.
