NEP UK is looking for a Guarantee-level engineer responsible for the technical leadership, planning, and delivery of NEP UK’s complex outside broadcast trucks and flypack systems. This position combines deep hands‑on expertise with full project ownership, ensuring that vision and media systems are engineered, validated, and delivered to the highest operational standards. As a recognised technical authority, the successful candidate will lead the design, configuration, and deployment of vision systems across both IP (SMPTE ST 2110) and hybrid SDI/IP environments. They will operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking responsibility for system performance both in preparation and during live production. The role requires confident on‑site leadership as a Guarantee Vision Engineer, working closely with production teams, project managers, and fellow engineers to deliver faultless live broadcasts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Ownership & Project Delivery: Take full technical ownership of vision systems for OB trucks and flypack projects from concept through to live delivery. Lead system design, configuration, and validation, ensuring readiness for high‑pressure live environments. Produce and maintain clear, accurate engineering documentation (system diagrams, configs, build records). Engineer and support complex vision chains including cameras, CCUs, vision mixers, routers, multiviewers, monitoring, and tally. Ensure all systems meet Guarantee-level expectations for reliability, resilience, and operational usability. Maintain and uphold NEP UK engineering standards and best practices.
  • IP & Networked Production: Lead implementation of SMPTE ST 2110 environments, including PTP timing, multicast architecture, and redundancy strategies. Work confidently across broadcast network infrastructure, including switch configuration and traffic segmentation. Troubleshoot and optimise IP‑based production systems in both prep and live scenarios.
  • Broadcast Control & Integration: Configure and support broadcast control, orchestration, and monitoring systems. Lead integration across vision, replay, audio, comms, and wider production systems. Ensure seamless system interoperability under live conditions.
  • Live Operational Leadership: Operate as a Guarantee Vision Engineer on live productions, acting as the primary technical authority for vision systems. Take ownership of system performance on‑site, including rapid fault diagnosis and resolution. Provide clear technical leadership and confidence to production teams and clients during live broadcasts. Contribute to the development of NEP UK’s vision and IP engineering strategies. Mentor and support less experienced engineers, sharing knowledge and promoting best practice.

Personal Attributes:

  • Calm, decisive, and accountable under pressure.
  • Strong sense of ownership with a lead‑from‑the‑front mentality.
  • Client‑facing confidence, able to build trust quickly in live environments.
  • Collaborative and supportive within engineering teams.
  • Proactive and forward‑thinking, with a passion for evolving broadcast technology.
