Crawley Creative Technology UK have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Controller to join the team in Crawley. This position is a senior role within the Finance team, responsible for the full breadth of financial reporting and compliance in the UK. Working closely with the Finance Director, the role combines hands-on management accounting with ownership of financial reporting, tax compliance, working capital management, system ownership, budgeting and several business improvement projects.

The Finance Controller will line manage a small team comprising two or three Accounts Payable Assistants and two Management Accountants. They will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight, development and performance management of the team, ensuring workloads are well organised, deadlines are met and a strong control environment is maintained. The role requires a hands-on but empowering management style — someone who can develop staff and review and challenge work effectively.

Main Responsibilities
  • Management Accounting & Month-End
    • Oversight of all transaction work in Business Central
    • Responsibility for monthly management reporting
    • Preparation and review of monthly management packs
    • Intercompany balance management
    • Fixed asset control
    • Balance sheet reconciliation review
    • Responsibility for group reporting
    • System uploads
    • Group reporting packs
  • Cash Reporting & Management
    • Cash flow reporting and forecasting
    • AR reporting and control – invoicing and collections
    • AP control and review – postings and payment runs
  • Payroll & Employment Taxes
    • Review and approval of monthly payrolls
    • Administration of HMRC Gov Gateway accounts
    • Review of UK subsidiary stats (six companies)
    • Coordination and review of outsourced UK group consol accounts (c.20 companies)
    • Management of audit process
    • Responsibility for complex group accounting matters e.g. impairment reviews, fair value adjustments
  • Taxation & Compliance
    • Full responsibility for all UK tax compliance across six companies, including:
      • Corporation tax
      • VAT including international elements
      • IR35 — circa 5,000 engagements annually
    • Maintenance of key external relationships with tax advisers
    • Main point of contact for the US-based group tax team on UK issues
    • ONS and sustainability reporting
  • System Ownership & Control
    • Owner of Business Central accounting package, expenses system and consolidation software
    • Bank administration
    • Internal controls – oversight and review of internal processes to ensure strong control environment
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Working within the NEP group to maximise Group revenue
    • Adhering to internal processes
    • You may be expected to travel to site or other offices where applicable both in the UK and Worldwide.
    • Support where needed on Internal and external ISO accreditation audits
    • Support other teams when and where required such as purchasing
Skills / Qualifications
  • ACA Qualified with at least 3 years’ experience would be advantageous
  • Strong IT skills including MS Office
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Experience managing and developing finance teams, including setting objectives, conducting appraisals and supporting career progression
  • Ability to review, challenge and sign off work across different entities and accounting areas
  • Experience overseeing transactional finance teams, with a practical understanding of AP processes, payment runs and purchase ledger controls
  • A collaborative and approachable management style, with the ability to motivate team members at different levels of seniority and experience
  • Comfortable managing upwards as well as downwards — able to escalate issues appropriately to the Finance Director while maintaining team confidence and momentum.
