NEP UK: Senior Maintenance Technician (Bracknell)

We’re looking for a Senior Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Bracknell HQ and play a central role in keeping our broadcast equipment, outside broadcast trucks, flypacks and production systems operational and ready for their next deployment. This is a varied role at the centre of a busy technical environment. You’ll coordinate equipment through the maintenance and repair process, work with our engineers and specialist manufacturers, manage parts and external repairs, maintain accurate asset and compliance information, and help us plan ahead for equipment returning from, and heading out to, live productions.

What will you be doing?

Keeping our technology ready

• You’ll be a key coordination point for equipment moving through our maintenance operation, from the moment a fault is identified through to repair, testing and return to service.
• Book equipment into maintenance, making sure faults and asset information are accurately captured.
• Track equipment through the repair process and ensure completed repairs are properly documented.
• Coordinate the return of repaired equipment to operational use.
• Maintain accurate asset information, including equipment exchanges, serial-number changes and disposals.
• Help build complete and reliable maintenance histories so we can understand the performance and lifecycle of our equipment.
• Make sure maintenance documentation is accurate, consistent and up to date.

Managing repairs from start to finish

• Not every repair happens in-house. You’ll work directly with manufacturers, specialist suppliers and repair partners in the UK and internationally to keep equipment moving.
• Raising manufacturer support cases and Return Material Authorisations (RMAs).
• Coordinating external repairs and tracking their progress.
• Preparing specialist equipment for safe shipment.
• Arranging couriers, collections and deliveries.
• Preparing commercial invoices and export documentation for international shipments where required.
• Receiving repaired equipment back into NEP and ensuring it is correctly checked and processed.
• Monitoring repair turnaround times and keeping the Head of Maintenance updated on progress, delays and priorities.

You’ll develop relationships with a wide range of specialist technology suppliers and manufacturers and help ensure we get equipment back into service as efficiently as possible.

Planning ahead

• In live production, good maintenance isn’t only about responding when something goes wrong. It’s about anticipating what is coming next.
• Review upcoming OB truck, tender and flypack movements to identify maintenance requirements before equipment returns to base.
• Help coordinate incoming maintenance workloads and priorities.
• Support preventative maintenance planning.
• Track outstanding repairs and follow up on actions.
• Help prepare equipment ahead of future productions and deployments.
• Make sure the team has visibility of what needs attention, what is being repaired and what is ready to go.

Parts, purchasing and stock

• Having the right part available at the right time can make all the difference. You’ll help keep our maintenance operation supplied and organised by:
• Raising Purchase Orders for repairs, replacement parts and shipping.
• Processing goods received against orders.
• Sourcing and ordering parts and consumables from approved suppliers.
• Maintaining appropriate stock levels for commonly used maintenance items.
• Coordinating requests from engineers for project-specific parts.
• Supporting supplier quotations and repair-cost tracking.

You’ll use systems including EasyJob and Proactis, alongside our wider business systems, to make sure equipment, purchasing and maintenance information remains accurate and traceable.

Safety, compliance and certification

You’ll also help ensure our equipment and vehicles meet the standards required to operate safely. Working closely with our Electrical Department, you’ll support:

• Management and retention of PAT testing records.
• Monitoring of current PAT testing requirements.
• EICR certification for our OB trucks.
• Maintaining accessible and accurate compliance documentation.
• Maintenance and engineering compliance audits when required.

Turning information into better maintenance

Accurate data helps us make better decisions about our technology. You’ll maintain repair and maintenance records, help produce status reports and, importantly, start to spot the bigger picture, whether that’s a recurring equipment fault, a particular repair trend or an opportunity to improve how we work. We’ll encourage you to ask questions, challenge inefficient processes and contribute ideas that make our maintenance operation smarter, more proactive and more effective.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who understands that great technical operations rely just as much on organisation, planning and follow-through as they do on engineering expertise. You’ll ideally bring:

• Experience within a technical maintenance, engineering, broadcast or similar operational environment.
• Experience coordinating equipment repairs and associated logistics.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several priorities at once.
• An understanding of asset management and maintenance workflows.
• Experience working with external manufacturers, suppliers or repair partners.
• Experience using purchasing, stock or ERP systems such as Proactis is desirable, but training can be provided.
• Excellent attention to detail and confidence maintaining accurate technical records.
• Good general IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with engineers, suppliers and colleagues across the business.
• A proactive approach, you’ll be someone who follows things through rather than waiting to be chased.

Experience specifically within broadcast isn’t essential, but it would be a real advantage. Knowledge of EasyJob, international shipping and customs documentation, PAT testing, preventative maintenance programmes or broadcast technology would also be valuable.
