Reports to: Broadcast Support Manager

Location: MediaCity, Salford, Greater Manchester

The Role: To work as a Broadcast Support Engineer, providing support to the various broadcast facilities operated by NEP Connect and its clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing 2nd line support to broadcast equipment within studios, apparatus rooms, and galleries, for example: production switchers, broadcast cameras, AV routers, audio mixers, modular infrastructure “glue”.
  • Providing 2nd line support to our Net Insight Nimbra AnyLive network and associated equipment.
  • Supporting and maintaining various IP networks using the following hardware: Cisco, Arista and FS.
  • Supporting our satellite dish farm with reactive fault finding and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability and competence to evaluate technical problems using appropriate broadcast and networking test and measurement equipment.
  • Imaginative approach to problem solving.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Teamworking and lone working skills.
  • To keep the Broadcast Support Manager/Production/NOC Staff appraised of the status of any issues, as appropriate.
  • To log all faults and irregularities and pass information between shifts.
  • To assist with in-house broadcast project and installation work.
  • Performance of preventative maintenance as necessary.
  • Oversee external contractors e.g. UPS maintenance teams, electrical safety teams etc.
  • Ensure system documentation is up to date.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of industry best practice.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the relevant technical fields.
