Piling Rig Engineer

Location: Derbyshire Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Hours: 41.5 hours per week Holiday: 22 days plus bank holidays

The Opportunity

NEOS Engineering is working with a specialist piling and geotechnical contractor looking to recruit a Piling Rig Engineer to join its workshop team at Swadlincote.

This is primarily a workshop-based position, focused on the maintenance, servicing and repair of specialist piling equipment and associated machinery.

There will also be occasional site breakdowns, where you'll be required to travel out from the workshop to diagnose and resolve faults on equipment. Overnight stays may occasionally be required, although these are not a regular part of the role.

It's a good opportunity for an experienced Plant Fitter or Engineer who enjoys working on heavy construction machinery and has a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.

The Role

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on specialist piling equipment and associated machinery within the workshop.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
  • Carry out inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment remains safe and operational.
  • Respond to occasional site breakdowns, travelling from the workshop when required.
  • Identify faults, source solutions and minimise equipment downtime.
  • Work on a range of specialist construction and piling machinery.
  • Maintain a safe and organised working environment.

The Candidate

  • Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Mobile Plant Engineer, Heavy Plant Mechanic or similar.
  • Level 3 qualification in Plant Maintenance or an equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing heavy-duty construction plant.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills, ideally with knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Electrical fault-finding experience would be beneficial.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a workshop team.
  • Piling equipment experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

The Package

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • 41.5-hour working week.
  • 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Company pension options.
  • Door-to-door pay when travelling directly to site.
  • Occasional overnight stays when required.
  • Primarily workshop-based at Swadlincote, with occasional site breakdown attendance.

If you're an experienced Plant Fitter or Engineer looking for a role involving specialist machinery, workshop maintenance and occasional site-based work, NEOS Engineering would be interested in hearing from you.
