NEOS Engineering are recruiting on behalf of our client, a national plant hire company with a strong reputation in the industry and genuine opportunities to progress and develop their staff. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Workshop Plant Fitter to join a busy, well-equipped workshop in Wandsworth, working on a modern fleet of plant machinery.

The Role

As a Workshop Plant Fitter, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of a wide range of plant and construction equipment, ensuring all machinery is maintained to a high standard and ready for hire. This is a workshop-based role offering stability, career progression, and long-term development within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing plant machinery
  • Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical faults
  • Carrying out PDI, LOLER and safety inspections
  • Preparing machines for hire, return and re-deployment
  • Completing job cards and service documentation accurately
  • Working closely with workshop supervisors and parts teams
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop environment

  • Mini & midi excavators
  • Dumpers and rollers
  • Telehandlers
  • Small tools and ancillary plant equipment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience as a Plant Fitter / Plant Engineer / Workshop Engineer
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic fault-finding skills
  • Electrical diagnostics experience advantageous
  • Backgrounds considered: plant hire, construction plant, agricultural, HGV or REME
  • Relevant qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, apprenticeship) beneficial but not essential
  • Reliable, proactive and team-focused attitude
