The Role
As a Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Engineer, you\’ll become a crucial part of the maintenance team, responsible for the repair and upkeep of both mobile and fixed recycling plant machinery. You\’ll be working hands-on across a variety of equipment in a fast-paced, outdoor environment, contributing to smooth operational performance and compliance with safety regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Servicing and repairing mobile and fixed plant equipment, including engines, hydraulics, and pneumatics

  • Welding and basic fabrication work

  • Diagnosing faults and fitting correct parts

  • Maintaining crushers, bailers, conveyor systems, and other recycling machinery

  • Conducting service inspections and maintaining service records

  • Managing your own workload in line with maintenance schedules

  • Complying with all Health & Safety policies

The Candidate
We\’re seeking a skilled and reliable engineer who thrives in hands-on environments and is confident working with a wide range of machinery. The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Experience in recycling or construction plant maintenance

  • Strong understanding of diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, and pneumatics

  • Exposure to HGVs and mobile plant such as excavators, grabs, forklifts, and trailers

  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Commitment to safe working practices and high standards of workmanship
