NEOS Engineering are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter to join their busy construction and plant maintenance team. This is a hands-on role working on a wide range of construction plant, including excavators, telehandlers, dumpers, and wheeled or tracked machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on construction plant
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults efficiently
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
- Assist with breakdowns and urgent repairs on-site
- Fabricate and replace mechanical parts where required
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safe use of PPE
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Operate and test machinery safely after repair
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Heavy Plant Fitter or equivalent role
- Knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and basic electrical systems
- Experience working on construction plant: excavators, dumpers, telehandlers, loaders, etc.
- Ability to read technical schematics and maintenance manuals
- Full UK driving licence
- Good communication and team-working skills
- Ability to work flexibly across different sites
Desirable:
- NVQ or apprenticeship in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- Experience welding or fabricating mechanical components
- CPCS or other plant operation qualifications
