We are currently looking for experienced Field Service Engineers to join a busy and growing operation across Grays and London to work on our client's fleet of Generators / Back Up Power. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with experience within the generator, plant hire or heavy mechanical industries looking to join a well-established business offering strong earning potential, overtime opportunities and long-term progression.
The role will be predominantly field-based, supporting customers across your region, with occasional yard/depot-based work where required.
Responsibilities:- Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repair work on generators both on customer sites and within the depot
- Fault finding across control panels and AC/DC electrical systems
- Mechanical and electrical repairs
- Genset synchronisation
- Participating in the out-of-hours call out rota, including bank holidays
- Liaising directly with customers and maintaining strong working relationships
- Completing daily vehicle defect reports and ensuring company vehicle roadworthiness
- Completing all associated paperwork including service sheets and PDI documentation
- Adhering to all Health & Safety procedures and company guidelines
- NVQ in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Previous experience within the generator or plant hire industry
- Strong fault-finding and maintenance experience
- Ability to prioritise workloads and manage service schedules effectively
- Full UK Driving Licence held for a minimum of 3 years
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Strong communication skills and customer-facing approach
- Forklift licence advantageous, although training can be provided
