Field Service Engineer - Power Generation - South / Midlands Based. National travel will be required - preferred location is the midlands or southern based. Salary 45k - 55k DOE. Increased pay available if you have any of these certifications: GasSafe, 18th Edition and HV Switching.
Main Responsibilities:
- Replace worn components as needed due to wear, failure, or scheduled maintenance, including cylinder heads, piston/liner assemblies, turbochargers, exhaust and intake systems, oil pumps, and intercoolers.
- Take the lead in overhauling reciprocating power generation equipment.
- Carry out routine maintenance and operational tasks, including fault identification, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Deliver planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Consult with the Engineering and Management team when guidance is required.
- Optimize resources and minimize costs by effectively utilizing in-house skills and available tools.
- Identify and order the correct parts, gaskets, and materials required for scheduled overhauls and repairs.
- Maintain a stock of essential spare parts to ensure swift responses to breakdowns or unscheduled maintenance needs.
- Follow all Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies, exercising sound judgment to ensure compliance.
- Where economically viable, reduce reliance on external contractors by handling tasks in-house.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies, actively monitoring, reporting, and auditing as required.
- Commit to continuous professional development and support the growth of team members' skills and knowledge.
- Manage travel and work schedules effectively, including overnight stays when necessary.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Extensive experience leading the overhaul of reciprocating power generation equipment in a field-based role.
- Strong knowledge of MWM, CAT CG, or MTU systems.
- Experience in mechanical, electrical, and thermal maintenance.
- Proven ability to diagnose faults and implement effective repairs.
Desirable:
- Gas Safe accreditation (or willingness to obtain during probation).
- Electrical skills or relevant industry experience.
- Familiarity with electrical control systems (12V DC – 415V AC, 3-phase).
- Proficient in computer systems relevant to the role.
- Full UK driving license.
