We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Network Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to gain hands‑on experience in the design, build, and delivery of critical network infrastructure projects. To support Critical National Infrastructure, you may be required to complete a Security Check (SC clearance).
Key Responsibilities- Design, build, and configure network infrastructure solutions as part of project delivery.
- Support the implementation of routers, switches, firewalls, and WAN technologies across multi‑vendor environment.
- Assist with remote builds, staging, and deployment of customer solutions.
- Work closely with project managers to deliver projects on time, ensuring technical requirements are met.
- Perform testing, validation, and documentation of deployed solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during project implementation.
- Participate in change activities, including out‑of‑hours work where required.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Produce and maintain build guides and handover documentation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in networking or IT infrastructure, with a keen interest in hands‑on engineering and project delivery.
- A CCNA qualification or equivalent (e.g. Juniper or similar certification) is highly desirable.
- Hands‑on or lab‑based experience with routing and switching technologies.
- Familiarity with Cisco IOS / IOS‑XE and enterprise networking hardware.
- A good understanding of Layer 2 technologies (Ethernet, VLANs, Spanning Tree) and Layer 3 technologies (OSPF, BGP, subnetting, ACLs, VRF).
- Exposure to firewalls and security appliances (configuration, upgrades, policies).
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret technical designs and translate them into build/configuration tasks.
- Good communication skills for working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience or exposure to multi‑vendor environments (Cisco, Juniper, Arista).
- Knowledge of SD‑WAN technologies or modern network architecture.
- Understanding of network security principles.
- Awareness of project delivery frameworks (Agile, PRINCE2).
- Self‑motivated and keen to develop hands‑on engineering skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality of work.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Flexible approach to working hours when supporting project delivery.
- Customer‑focused with good interpersonal skills.
