Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to perform all financial operations activities of a major Telecommunications / Rail construction project. The successful candidate will be fully responsible for month end and will be required to support with financial planning, budgeting, cost control, reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, project requirements and Network Rail.
Key Responsibilities
- Support on commercial project execution activities including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
- Provide submissions to Network Rail and support on queries through to resolution.
- Monitor project costs and ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.
- Support on risk and opportunity management, including claims and variation order handling.
- Preparation of the Month end close for Reach, including calculation of accruals and prepayments and reconciling Financial Statements, including TB reports for model.
- Support on intercompany accounting elements within Reach and the Neos Group.
- Review cash flow, funding requirements, and highlight any financial risk.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with auditors, banks, and external consultants as needed.
- Collaborate with procurement, legal, and technical teams to ensure project success.
- Conduct regular project reviews and variance analysis with stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting in systems, i.e. Workday.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Proven experience in financial management; experience in construction or infrastructure projects advantageous.
- Strong understanding of construction project lifecycles, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Workday, MS Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
- Knowledge of contract types (e.g., NEC).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
