We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join the IP/MPLS team to help support and secure the UK wide data network which provides mission critical services to Commercial Telecoms Customers This is a fantastic opportunity to join a rapidly developing organisation Vetting/Clearance Level: In order to support Critical National Infrastructure, you will need to be vetted as part of your induction process Key Responsibilities: As a Network Engineer your role will cover the following areas: • Network Design and Implementation: Designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network solutions for LAN and WAN environments. • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Proactively monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving complex network issues as well as providing technical support for the NOC. • Network Optimization and Performance: Optimizing network performance and capacity, ensuring high availability. • Security: Implementing and maintaining robust security measures, such as firewalls and security policies. • Leadership and Team Mentorship: Providing leadership and guidance to junior engineers, mentoring and developing their skills. • Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date network documentation. • Vendor Management: Working with external vendors for hardware and software support. • Collaboration: Collaborating with other teams and departments to ensure network infrastructure aligns with business needs. • Support out of hours planned changes or escalations when required. • Liaise with project management teams to carry out remote builds and deployment What do I need? Essential for the role you will need to hold a professional level network accreditation such as cisco, Nokia, juniper or similar industry recognised certification. You will need the following skills for this role, although the level of ability for each will vary. Switching and routing configuration and support experience: Layer 2 knowledge - Ethernet, Spanning Tree and VLANs, DSL technologies Layer 3 knowledge - OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, BGP, IP addressing/subnetting, VRF, ACLs Security Architecture : VPNs, IPS/IDS, Threat Defence, Vulnerabilities, PenTest/Audit, SIEM In addition, you will have demonstrable planning and implementation knowledge of telecommunication infrastructure technologies We are looking for candidates that can display a high level of confidence, be able to demonstrate initiative and can deliver projects on time and in budget.
