What is the Role?
We have an opportunity for an electrician to work in support of one of the largest and growing telecom networks within the UK.
Reporting to the Field and Sites Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a variety of tasks throughout Scotland, primarily electrical and telecoms-based build work for a major Critical National Infrastructure company.
You will undertake a variety of tasks for both internal and external clients throughout the UK, adhering to and always promoting the company’s core safety values.
This will include the installation of electrical cables, telecoms cabinets, fibre optic ducts and cables. This is a great opportunity to cross-train between electrical and telecoms roles in a busy team.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Work: Perform electrical tasks as required, contributing to the overall functionality and safety of the infrastructure.
- Installation: Install racks and containment systems with precision and attention to detail, ensuring installation to a high standard.
- Termination: Terminate structured cabling, ensuring connections are reliable and meet industry standards.
- Testing: Conduct fibre testing to verify the performance and quality of the cabling systems, identifying and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Supervision: Supervise contractors on-site, ensuring work is completed to the highest standards. Conduct audits to maintain quality and compliance.
- Travel: Working in various locations throughout Scotland.
- Compliance: Ensure that signing, lighting, guarding, and traffic control measures required are set out correctly and in accordance with Chapter 8 of the NRSWA.
- Material Handling: Ensure all materials used comply with the appropriate specifications and are stored and handled correctly.
- Reinstatement: Ensure the reinstatement of disturbed areas is completed in accordance with the relevant specifications.
- Reactive Call-Out Team: Be a member of the reactive call-out team.
- Safety: Be responsible for personal safety at all times.
- Audits: Undertake audits in accordance with the company’s policies.
Requirements
- Electrical qualification and experience.
- Experience in rack and containment installation.
- Great problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service ethic and skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative & stay calm under pressurised conditions.
- A full UK Driving Licence is vital.
- Experience in fibre installation, splicing, and testing.
- Knowledge of working in Substation/CDM environments
- Full driving licence.
- Experience or a willingness to learn new skills in structured Copper Cabling & Fibre Optic Systems
