NEOS Engineering is recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and construction business for an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of large-scale heavy engineering and construction projects across the UK. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong mechanical background looking to operate as second-in-line to a Senior Project Manager, assisting with the management of complex construction environments while supporting Principal Contractor responsibilities.
As a Project Manager, you will work closely with the Senior Project Manager and wider project teams to oversee mechanical, civil, and structural works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Senior Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and managing large-scale construction and heavy engineering projects
- Assist in managing multi-skilled site teams (up to 50 personnel) and subcontractors
- Oversee the installation of steel structures, concrete foundations, and general civil works
- Support delivery of heavy mechanical and engineering build projects, e.g., recycling plants, quarry plants, energy-from-waste facilities
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and commercial performance, providing reports and updates to senior management
- Maintain compliance with CDM regulations, Health & Safety legislation, and company procedures
- Coordinate site logistics, resources, and operational planning with colleagues and stakeholders
- Attend client meetings and liaise with key stakeholders under the guidance of the Senior Project Manager
- Experience managing large-scale construction projects in industrial, mining, quarrying, or similar heavy engineering environments (general housebuilding or commercial developments not applicable)
- Strong mechanical engineering background
- Familiarity with NEC contracts
- Proven ability to support Principal Contractor responsibilities on site
- Excellent communication skills, both technical and professional
- Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to support multi-skilled teams
- Clean UK driving licence
- Fluent English (spoken and written)
