About us

NeonFox Tech is a tech firm that builds modern software with a focus on the specialty insurance market, encompassing underwriting, broking, intelligence, and claims. We are an early-stage company, a small team, and a sector most designers have never worked in. It is an exciting greenfield opportunity with substantial autonomy to shape our visual standards from the ground up.

The Role

We are looking for a midweight digital designer to help build out our marketing arm. This role will be responsible for the brand and web design across multiple entities. The first task isn't a website, it's a system. A shared design language flexible enough to give each brand its own character while keeping the group coherent. Once that exists, you'll design the sites against it, one by one. You design. Our engineering team builds in-house. That means your handoff needs to be genuinely buildable, not just beautiful.

What you’ll do

  • Establish modern and cohesive branding and design systems across all entities.
  • Design responsive marketing sites for desktop and mobile across all entities.
  • Work out how visual relationships across the group relate to one another, balancing shared architecture but ensuring a level of differentiation.
  • Occasionally support the creation of high-impact pitch decks, digital brochures, email templates, social media design and corporate assets.
  • Work closely with development to hand off Figma concepts and collaborate during implementation.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • 3+ years in brand and digital design/product design, with a proven track record of shipped projects.
  • System mindset – ability to design components and tokens to be used across brands rather than isolated pages.
  • Typography – type will often do the heavy lifting in our key industries. You should have a strong understanding of how to lay out information.
  • Solid UI/UX skills – including proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • Advanced Figma – use of design tokens, variables, clean architecture and auto-layout.
  • Handoff Discipline – all states considered, focus, hover, behaviour for potentially empty content (a blog with two posts, a careers page with no roles), error messages.
  • Autonomy – you must be comfortable making design decisions autonomously as you'll be our sole designer to begin with, setting your own direction.

Strongly wanted

  • Experience with Product Design in the SaaS space - Wireframes, personas, user journeys, data presentation.
  • A good understanding of HTML/CSS to identify what is cheap to build and what isn’t.
  • Experience designing to a system that maps to WordPress theme config files.

Nice to have

  • Experience producing copy – website wording will often be the responsibility of the designers.
  • Fintech, B2B, or heavily regulated-industry background.
  • Motion basics.
  • Iconography or illustration work.

What’s in it for you

  • Hybrid working.
  • Bonus scheme.
  • Private medical cover.
  • We respect the scope and capacity of part-time roles - Three days means three days.

If you are passionate about design and excited about making your own impact we’d love to hear from you. At NeonFox we are committed to creating an environment in which we can all thrive. All applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application. Please note that we are not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
