Neo Studios is looking for an experienced 1st Assistant Camera to join our team on an award‑winning Sports Documentary Series based in Wrexham, North Wales. The successful candidate will have strong experience working on factual and documentary productions, excellent technical knowledge of camera systems, and the ability to work efficiently in fast‑paced shooting environments.
Location: Must be based in North Wales or the North West of England, working mainly from the Wrexham Production Office.
Dates: 3rd August 2026 to May 2026 inclusive - basis of 3 days a week.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a 1st Assistant Camera on broadcast, documentary, or factual productions.
- Strong knowledge of professional camera systems, lenses, accessories, and camera workflows.
- Experience maintaining critical focus in a variety of shooting conditions.
- Ability to prepare, build, maintain, and troubleshoot camera equipment quickly and efficiently.
- Responsible for keeping the camera kit room organised, well‑maintained, and production‑ready at all times.
- Proactively liaise with camera operators and shooting teams to ensure all kit requirements are identified in advance and that crews are fully equipped for each shoot.
- Confident managing kit allocations, tracking equipment movements, and identifying any additional equipment requirements to ensure no essential kit is missing.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working on sports, observational documentary, or sports‑adjacent content preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively under pressure and meet demanding production schedules.
- Positive attitude and excellent communication skills when working with camera operators, DOPs, and production teams.
- Basic camera operating or shooting experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
