NEO International Partners are partnered with a leading UK infrastructure contractor to support the growth of their Energy division in Scotland, as part of a significant investment into the UK’s grid upgrade and energy transition. With a £1bn+ secured and forecast pipeline and major long-term frameworks in place with key clients including Scottish Power Energy Networks and SSEN, the business is now looking to appoint experienced Senior Project Managers to support delivery across a range of high-profile transmission projects.
The Role
As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a key role in delivering large-scale energy infrastructure projects across Scotland, covering substations, overhead lines (OHL), and underground cable works. Projects range from major substation upgrades and new builds through to large-scale transmission schemes, including 400kV overhead line developments. Many are currently in ECI phase, providing the opportunity to influence design, planning, and delivery strategy from an early stage. You will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams, managing programme and commercial performance, and ensuring safe and efficient delivery across complex environments.
You will have exposure to a wide range of major programmes, including:
- Large substation upgrade schemes across the Central Belt
- Overhead line reconductoring and strengthening works
- New build transmission infrastructure (including 400kV projects)
- Underground cable schemes and associated infrastructure
The business operates a mixed delivery model, with strong in-house capability in overhead lines, including self-delivery and internal training pipelines.
Locations & Working Patterns
Projects are based across:
- Central Belt – more traditional working patterns
- Highlands & Islands – rotational working (typically 10 days on / 4 days off)
There is flexibility around location, with openness to candidates based across the UK or Ireland, supported by travel and hybrid working arrangements where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of energy infrastructure projects
- Manage programme, cost, and risk across NEC-based contracts
- Drive high standards in health, safety, and quality
- Lead and develop project teams
- Act as the primary interface with clients and stakeholders
- Ensure clear communication and alignment across all project phases
What We’re Looking For

- Experience operating at Senior Project Manager level (or similar)
- Strong project delivery capability across complex programmes
- Commercial and contractual awareness (NEC experience preferred)
- Experience leading large teams and managing stakeholders
- A proactive, solutions-driven mindset
Sector Backgrounds
Candidates may come from:
- Transmission & distribution (preferred but not essential)
- Overhead lines (highly valued)
- Substations or cables
- Broader infrastructure sectors such as civil engineering, rail, or utilities
A contractor background is particularly relevant, with a preference for individuals who have delivered projects from ECI through to completion.
Why Consider This Opportunity
- Join a business at a key stage of growth in Scotland
- Work on major UK transmission programmes linked to grid expansion and energy transition
- Opportunity to progress into senior leadership roles as the business scales
- Flexible approach to location and working patterns
