The Track Manager at Nene Valley Railway, a heritage railway based at Wansford near Peterborough, is responsible for the maintenance and renewals of our infrastructure. This includes 9 miles of (mostly) single track with two river crossings, a tunnel, and a small number of under and over bridges. Applicants will need to demonstrate relevant experience and be capable of motivating and managing volunteers. Some weekend working will be required. Salary will depend on experience and number of days worked per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage maintenance, repair, and rebuild of PWay and Lineside
  • Plan and prioritise to ensure that PWay is fit for use, as directed by General Manager
  • Input to budgets
  • Manage use of resources
  • Mobilise temporary resources
  • Support the evolution of strategic infrastructure plans
  • Contribute to major projects including support of grant applications
  • Maintain records of track condition, work planned, and done
  • Assure the competence of staff and certify as appropriate
  • Report use of resources to Business Management function
  • Maintain SMS
  • Ensure that PWay and associated structures meet legally required standards
  • Manage external inspections
  • Review track patrollers' track inspection forms and organise works of higher priority items
  • Order track/bridge materials and arrange for delivery including wagons to receive
  • Liaise with members of the civils group and other managers - mechanical, operating, signallers, loco superintendent

Pay: £25,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
