The Driver/Doctor's Assistant is a key member of staff whose role is to support the operational effectiveness of the NEMS CBS In and Out of Hours services. The main purpose of this role is to work with all Operational Staff to ensure efficient and effective:
- Transport of GPs between NEMS sites and patients' home locations
- Provide reception duties at NEMS sites as/when required
- Undertake responsibility checks, i.e. Vehicle and Equipment checks in preparation for a home visit
- Work closely with our other sites under NEMS CBS

Job responsibilities include:
- To provide an efficient and professional transport service for GPs in a NEMS vehicle to and from patients' homes
- To liaise with staff in base Clinical and non-clinical and follow instructions given by the Despatch and the Shift Lead throughout the shift
- Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure the vehicle complies with the requirements of the law
- Assist in journey scheduling as necessary
- Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to the entire medical and business affairs of NEMS
- Provide a courier service between all NEMS sites and other NHS sites where required
- Deliver reception duties wherever required and have oversight of patients within the waiting rooms
- To chaperone GPs on home visits and assist with patient care if requested
- Any other duties as reasonably requested
Person Specification:
- Full, clean UK Driving Licence (internal driving test included as part of role)
- Experience of working within the NHS
- This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
