The role involves maintaining all equipment and control systems at the plant, ensuring all production lines run reliably and efficiently. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring all training relevant to the position is completed and kept up to date.
- Maintaining documentation within the Quality Management System (QMS) and adhering to Data Integrity.
- Carrying out the requirements of the planned preventive maintenance programme.
- Ensuring production lines operate at maximum efficiency through continuous improvement processes.
- Performing in-depth fault finding, diagnosis, and breakdown repairs as necessary.
- Assisting with machine changeovers and training technicians.
- Providing technical input into key operations projects.
- Carrying out reactive and planned maintenance duties.
- Training production staff as required.
- Supporting quality investigations including QIRs, deviations, and complaints.
- Assisting with SOP/WI improvements and stock control.
- Keeping track of all in-house engineering activities and updating stakeholders.
- Providing updates on critical breakdowns promptly to the Engineering Manager and relevant stakeholders.
Requirements include:
- A Time-Served Electrical Engineer.
- Minimum GCSE level education or equivalent (Maths and English).
- HNC/HND Engineering qualification.
- Knowledge of 18th Edition BS 7671:2018 regulations.
- Understanding of 415V AC – 24V DC systems.
- Experience with 3 phase/single phase motors, Servos, VSD’s, VLT’s, Inverters.
- Installation of containment and cable glanding.
- Panel wiring and controls, including safety circuits.
- Ability to understand and interpret wiring diagrams and PLC systems.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced GMP environment.
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Mechanical experience is essential; electrical experience is desirable.
- FMCG packaging machinery or pharmaceutical experience.
Abilities and behaviours required:
- Professional and self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal).
- Team player with effective collaboration skills.
- Able to prioritise and manage a varied workload under pressure.
- IT literate (Excel and ideally SAP).
- Good fault finding skills and ability to read ladder diagrams.
- Adaptable and keen to learn.
