The predicted salary is between 35000 - 45000 £ per year.

40 hours per week – shift hours 13.30-22.00 Monday to Friday. The Electrical Engineer will maintain all equipment and control systems and other facilities of the plant, ensuring all production lines at the manufacturing site run reliably and efficiently. They will also participate in company projects related to the technical role and help manage the Maintenance Workshop, ensuring routine and non‑routine maintenance activities are executed safely, timely and consistently.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all training relevant to the position and required tasks are completed and kept up to date.
  • Use assigned initials within a cGMP environment.
  • Keep all documentation relating to Nelson's products within the Quality Management System (QMS) and adhere to Data Integrity.
  • Understand and adhere to cGMP environment requirements.
  • Carry out the requirements of the planned preventive maintenance programme.
  • Ensure production lines run at maximum efficiency through continuous improvement processes.
  • Perform day‑to‑day in‑depth fault finding, diagnosis and breakdown repairs as necessary.
  • Assist with machine changeovers and train technicians as necessary.
  • Provide technical input into key operations projects such as facilities upgrade, capital investment proposals and new product introductions.
  • Carry out reactive and planned maintenance duties.
  • Carry out production line changes and maintain the Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedule.
  • Carry out any associated project work.
  • Support quality investigations including QIRs, deviations and complaints, performing root cause analysis and ensuring effective CAPA implementation and closure.
  • Assist with SOP/WI improvements.
  • Assist in stock control and management.
  • Keep track of all in‑house engineering activities and keep stakeholders updated on progress.
  • Provide updates on all critical breakdowns promptly to the Engineering Manager and other relevant stakeholders when required.

Qualifications

  • Time‑Served Electrical Engineer.
  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE level or equivalent (Maths and English).
  • HNC/HND Engineering qualification.

Experience and Knowledge

  • 18th Edition BS 7671:2018 regulations.
  • Understanding of 415 V AC – 24 V DC.
  • Experience with 3‑phase / single‑phase motors, servos, VSDs, VLTs and inverters.
  • Installation of containment – ladder, conduit and basket.
  • Cable glanding – SWA, SY.
  • Panel wiring and controls, including safety circuits.
  • Ability to understand and interpret wiring diagrams.
  • PLC systems.
  • Previous experience in a fast‑paced GMP environment.
  • Working to lean manufacturing principles, 5S and Kanban.
  • Mechanical experience is essential; electrical experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programmes.
  • FMCG packaging machinery or pharmaceutical experience.
  • Experience in liquid filling, cartoning systems, labelling, tube filling, shrink‑wrap systems and programmable logic controller interrogation (Omron, Allen Bradley, Siemens).
  • Ability to monitor and report results.

  • IT literate (Excel and ideally SAP).
  • Good fault‑finding skills.
  • Ability to read ladder diagrams.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Adaptable and keen to learn.
