Nelson Permanent Placements are working with our client recruiting for an Operations Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the daily running of a busy warehouse operation. You will lead warehouse teams, maintain high standards of safety and performance, and ensure operations run efficiently while delivering excellent service.
Key Responsibilities of an Operations Manager:
- Manage the day-to-day running of warehouse operations.
- Lead, motivate and support Warehouse Managers, Team Leaders and warehouse staff.
- Ensure all health and safety policies and procedures are followed.
- Complete and review monthly health and safety reports and warehouse inspections.
- Maintain stock accuracy and high-quality operational standards.
- Plan for new products and changing warehouse demands.
- Ensure staffing levels meet operational requirements.
- Monitor warehouse performance and ensure targets and deadlines are achieved.
- Promote compliance with company procedures and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with all departments and teams.
- Support site maintenance and facilities requirements.
- Manage warehouse consumables and control associated costs.
- Ensure material handling equipment is maintained, inspected and legally compliant.
- Oversee third-party contractors, including onsite security providers.
- Drive continuous improvement across warehouse operations.
To be considered for this role as an Operations Manager:
- Previous experience managing a warehouse or distribution centre is essential.
- Proven experience as an Operations Manager or Site Manager.
- Experience leading large teams and achieving operational targets.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse health and safety requirements.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methods is desirable.
- GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent experience.

- Competitive salary of £51,000 - £54,000 Depending on experience.
- 2 roles available, either 6am-3pm or 1pm-10pm (shift allowance for nights).
