Nelson Permanent Placements are working with our client recruiting for an Operations Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the daily running of a busy warehouse operation. You will lead warehouse teams, maintain high standards of safety and performance, and ensure operations run efficiently while delivering excellent service.

Key Responsibilities of an Operations Manager:

  • Manage the day-to-day running of warehouse operations.
  • Lead, motivate and support Warehouse Managers, Team Leaders and warehouse staff.
  • Ensure all health and safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Complete and review monthly health and safety reports and warehouse inspections.
  • Maintain stock accuracy and high-quality operational standards.
  • Plan for new products and changing warehouse demands.
  • Ensure staffing levels meet operational requirements.
  • Monitor warehouse performance and ensure targets and deadlines are achieved.
  • Promote compliance with company procedures and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments and teams.
  • Support site maintenance and facilities requirements.
  • Manage warehouse consumables and control associated costs.
  • Ensure material handling equipment is maintained, inspected and legally compliant.
  • Oversee third-party contractors, including onsite security providers.
  • Drive continuous improvement across warehouse operations.

To be considered for this role as an Operations Manager:

  • Previous experience managing a warehouse or distribution centre is essential.
  • Proven experience as an Operations Manager or Site Manager.
  • Experience leading large teams and achieving operational targets.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse health and safety requirements.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methods is desirable.
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent experience.
