Nelson Permanent Placements are recruiting for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a UK leading Facilities Maintenance Company with a legacy spanning over 100 years. This is an opportunity to work for a growing successful organisation that has an impressive client portfolio.

Our client is a leading provider of critical engineering services, driving progress by improving output, cutting costs, saving energy, and reducing carbon. They are seeking a Mobile Electrical Engineer to join their team. The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out electrical maintenance and repair work across multiple sites within the Southampton area. This position requires strong technical ability, the capacity to work independently, and a dedication to delivering a high standard of service.

To be considered for this role as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer you will have:

  • City & Guilds/NVQ qualification in Electrical Installation or Maintenance, or an equivalent certification and Completion of a time-served apprenticeship or equivalent formal training
  • City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations)
  • Demonstrable understanding of building services engineering
  • Testing and Inspection certification preferred
  • Sound knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations and safe working practices. Ability to carry out all work safely, diligently, and in line with relevant procedures and standards.
  • Experience and understanding of BMS, generator, control, lighting systems, and ACOPS L8 requirements
  • IPAF and PASMA certifications considered advantageous
  • Proven experience working on single and three-phase systems, lighting and power circuits, fire alarm testing, UPS systems, and a variety of other electrical duties
  • Strong fault-finding skills across all types of electrical plant and systems, from traditional equipment to modern technologies
  • Demonstrate expertise in commercial facilities maintenance
  • Excellent problem-solving ability with a high level of attention to detail
  • Have effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Competent in using SMART devices and completing electronic documentation

The key responsibilities of this role as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer are:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, as well as small projects, as directed by the Helpdesk team, including fault finding, testing, repairs, and preventative maintenance of electrical building services equipment
  • Ensure all building plant, systems, and equipment receive routine maintenance in line with service level agreements and performance expectations
  • Work on single and three-phase systems, fire alarm testing, lighting and power circuits, UPS systems, and a range of other electrical duties
  • Produce detailed technical quotations, including accurate parts identification and labour time estimates, to support profitability, cost control, and client satisfaction
  • Maintain full compliance with all relevant industry regulations, company policies, and safety standards
  • Keep comprehensive and accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities
  • Escalate technical or operational issues promptly to the Supervisor or Contract Manager
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and specialist sub-contractors to ensure smooth, efficient operation of systems with minimal client disruption
  • Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota and attend emergency repair works as required

The employment package for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer is:

  • Β£42,000 per annum
  • 42.5 hours per week: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 17:00 pm
  • Overtime at time and a half and on call paid additional to salary.
  • Field based: Scottish Borders and Dumfries
  • 34 days holiday including Christmas day, Boxing day and New Year’s Day
