Nelson Permanent Placements are working with our client recruiting for a Mobile Maintenance Engineer with relevant experience to join a forward thinking, reputable and fast-growing company who provide building and facilities maintenance to commercial and premium residential facilities.

The primary role of the Mobile Maintenance Engineer is to perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical and mechanical services at various sites across the North East. They may also assist other trades as directed by an operations supervisor. This includes carrying out periodic statutory testing to systems and completing periodic inspections to buildings and systems, carrying out planned maintenance, small repairs, refurbishment, installation, improvements, modifications, or upgrades.

To be considered for this role of a Mobile Maintenance Engineer you will be:

  • Electrical bias with the relevant qualification (2391 test and inspection preferred).
  • HVAC experience or F-Gas accreditation.
  • Ideally located in Newcastle.
  • Experience in commercial and residential facility management.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Key Responsibilities of a Mobile Maintenance Engineer:

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works on water, mechanical, electrical, life safety, and public health systems.
  • Carry out compliance activities, including testing and inspection, ensuring timely reporting on company systems.
  • Diagnose and rectify non-compliances following relevant British Standards and industry best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Be on call for emergencies.
  • Support junior team members through mentorship.
  • Participate in project and installation work as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the scheduling and management teams to meet contractual SLAs.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including SHEQ processes, and represent FMI professionally in training and client engagements.

Requirements of a Mobile Maintenance Engineer:

  • 2 years’ experience as an Electrically Bias Multi-Skilled Mobile Maintenance Engineer with plumbing and gas experience.
  • ACOP L8 legionella control qualification.
  • Have a high level of Health, Safety and Legislative requirements.
  • IPAF/PASMA.
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organisational skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively until completion.
