Overview
Nelson Permanent Placements are working with our client who are recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer. Our client specialises within hard engineering solutions and provides a full range of services in fast-moving, high-pressure manufacturing facilities, process environments and commercial spaces.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality electrical designs for automation and control systems, producing detailed calculations, specifications, and drawings using EPLAN and AutoCAD.
- Work closely with clients and internal teams to ensure solutions are technically robust, compliant, and delivered on time and within budget.
- Liaising with clients to interpret technical requirements and develop appropriate engineering solutions.
- Producing costed and fully documented proposals, including design specifications where required.
- Providing electrical engineering support through critical review of design submissions to ensure compliance with relevant technical standards.
- Ensuring projects are fit for purpose, delivered within budget, and aligned with agreed schedules.
- Ensuring all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are met, particularly for Control and LV Electrical Switchgear Panels and cabling installations.
- Managing electrical engineering design activities and providing supporting technical and commissioning services as required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in electrical design for automation and control systems.
- Proficiency in EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar electrical CAD software.
- Strong working knowledge of PLCs (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMIs, SCADA, and motor control systems.
- A solid understanding of LV electrical systems, control panels, and associated cabling.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to work effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
