Nelson Permanent Placements are working with a UK Leading Electrical Compliance Contractor who are situated in the Midlands. Our client is currently looking to add an Electrical Contracts Manager to the business to help support their aggressive growth plans. As the Electrical Contracts Manager, it will be your responsibility for overseeing and managing electrical compliance contracts from inception to completion, ensuring they are executed within budget, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable regulations. This role involves coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality electrical service from pre-contract to contract completion.

To be considered for this role you must:

  • Be a hands-on leader with a proven track record in driving electrical teams
  • Have a strong technical knowledge and be electrically qualified
  • Have a proven track record in successfully driving customer relationships
  • Be experienced in writing tenders, quotes and managing budgets
  • Be willing to travel nationally to meet the company needs

The ideal candidate will have contract/project management experience within electrical installations and testing within manufacturing, industrial and commercial environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure site teams are working in accordance with H&S regulations and client safety policies
  • Ensure project budgets are managed to achieve Margin Targets
  • Create accurate RAMS for the site teams and send to the customer when stipulated
  • Conduct Site H&S audits & Toolbox Talks
  • Develop comprehensive testing schedules/programmes outlining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements
  • Achieve target for remedials and additional small site work
  • Develop customer relationships to achieve upsell targets for the business
  • Create opportunities with customer base
  • Create and maintain project schedules, identifying critical paths and potential bottlenecks
  • Coaching and mentoring of direct reports including employee appraisals
  • Effectively lead a team of site engineers ensuring work schedules are delivered on time to customer deadlines
  • Own the commercial performance of a contract ensuring budgetary control over all costs – Time and materials
  • Manage multiple sites/contracts simultaneously
  • Tendering and quoting small to medium electrical work accurately and on time
  • Conducting site surveys at client sites
  • Commercial responsibility for all day work tasks
  • Responsible for invoicing to customers
  • Manage contractual obligations, variations, and change orders, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Attend customer and internal meetings
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, controlling costs and expenses
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing concerns and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Excellent communication of project progress, milestones, and any deviations from the original plan to internal stakeholders and the customer
  • Allocate resources efficiently, including labour, materials, and equipment, to optimise project performance
  • Identify and address resource constraints to keep projects on schedule
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address project challenges

Skills & qualifications:

  • Relevant NVQ or Degree level Electrical Qualification
  • Proven experience in electrical project management, with a focus on contracts management
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and regulations
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Driving Licence is essential
