Nelson Permanent Placements are looking for an experienced Pump Fitter to join a busy and growing engineering company working across a range of industrial sectors. This is a hands-on workshop role involving the repair, inspection, dismantling and assembly of industrial pumps. The successful candidate will join a friendly and professional team with excellent long-term career opportunities.
To be considered for this role as a Pump Fitter you will have:
- Previous experience working as a Pump Fitter, Mechanical Fitter or within an engineering workshop - preferably time served as an apprentice
- Good knowledge of industrial pumps and rotating equipment
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical information
- Experience using measuring and testing equipment
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
- Engineering apprenticeship or relevant experience preferred
- Tool room or workshop experience would be an advantage
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures
The key responsibilities of this role as a Pump Fitter are:
- Dismantling, inspecting and repairing industrial pumps
- Assembling pumps ready for installation
- Producing clear inspection reports and identifying faults
- Reading engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Carrying out quality checks using measuring equipment
- Following workshop procedures and health & safety standards
- Supporting the workshop team with daily engineering activities
- Responding to breakdowns and urgent repair work when required
- Helping improve workshop performance and efficiency
