Nelson Permanent Placements are recruiting for a Health & Safety Environmental Manager on behalf of our client a specialist in construction, refurbishment and fit-out that covers the UK. Our client is long established and still expanding. The Role The successful candidate will lead the implementation, monitoring and continual improvement of health, safety and environmental standards across all projects. This is a hands on operational role which requires regular site attendance, building relationships with the site teams and sub-contractors. Reporting back to the MD Duties * Site visits, monitoring activities and conditions * Supporting practical controls for working at height, roofing, access lifting, temporary works, plant, asbestos, dust and COSHH risks * Checking welfare, housekeeping, access, site security, emergency arrangements and permits * Allocate, monitor and verify closure of corrective actions, escalating serious or recurring issues * Prepare and review project specific RAMS * Verify implementations on site and revisions where needed * Site inspections and compliance * Environmental management, Implement ISO 14001 arrangements and inspect site environmental controls * Check waste segregation, storage, disposal and relevant transfer/consignment * Incident investigation, promote waste reduction, recycling and resource efficiency * CDM and principal contract support. compliance with CDM 1015, check contractor compliance and construction phase plans * Liaise with clients, principal designers and other duty holders * Accident reporting, leading investigations, co-coordinating RIDDOR assessments where necessary * Training and engagement, toolbox talks, induction and safety briefings. Identifying training needs * ISO Systems and auditing. Maintain HSE elements of the management system to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001. Internal audits Qualifications & Competence Essential * NEBOSH General or construction Certificate * HSE Experience * Knowledge of CDM 2015 and UK Legislation * Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 * Strong communication skills and UK Driving licence Desirable * NEBOSH Level 6 diploma * CMIOSH or working towards * Environmental qualification * Principal contractor experience * Knowledge of roofing, concrete repairs and industrial refurbishment How to Apply: This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of Nelson Permanent Placements Ltd.
