Role Description The Transportation Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Coventry. This role is responsible for overseeing daily transport operations, including planning and scheduling routes, assigning vehicles, and monitoring fleet utilization to ensure timely, safe, and efficient deliveries. The Transportation Manager will coordinate with drivers and internal teams, resolve issues related to delays or service disruptions, and maintain adherence to company policies and regulatory standards. The role includes managing customer expectations, responding promptly to service inquiries, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service quality. The Transportation Manager will also prepare and review performance reports, support budgeting for transport activities, and contribute to strategic planning for fleet and resource needs.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Operations Management and Transportation Management skills to oversee daily transport activities and optimize routes and resources.
- Candidates should possess solid Fleet Management skills, including scheduling, maintenance coordination, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Candidates should possess excellent Customer Service and Communication skills to manage client relationships, handle inquiries, and collaborate effectively with drivers and colleagues.
- Relevant experience in logistics, distribution, or transport coordination, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Ability to analyze operational data, use transport management or logistics software, and make data-informed decisions.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on safety and reliability.
- Knowledge of local and regional transport regulations, health and safety practices, and industry best practices.
- Formal education in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is beneficial.
