Nelly Works are supporting a leading digital media company in hiring a senior hands-on GCP specialist to help lead a major Azure-to-GCP migration and modernization program.
This is a high-impact role for someone who can combine deep GCP platform expertise with practical enterprise migration experience. You’ll help shape the target cloud architecture, challenge assumptions, and guide the migration of complex workloads from Azure into GCP.
What you’ll do:
- Lead GCP platform and landing zone design for a large enterprise environment
- Assess current Azure workloads and recommend the right GCP services and patterns
- Support migration discovery, dependency mapping, sizing, and phased cutover planning
- Design secure, governed, and cost-conscious cloud foundations
- Work closely with internal engineering teams and external cloud partners
- Define and improve infrastructure automation, IaC, and CI/CD practices
- Help modernize applications, databases, networking, and platform operations along the way
What you bring:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud, platform engineering, infrastructure, or DevOps
- 3-4+ years of deep, practical Google Cloud Platform experience
- Strong knowledge of core GCP services, including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, VPC, Cloud IAM, and Cloud SQL or Spanner
- Experience with GCP governance, security, org policies, cost management, and VPC Service Controls
- Strong Terraform experience
- Experience supporting or leading large-scale migrations from Azure, another hyperscaler, or on-premises into GCP
- Experience in enterprise environments with multiple teams and complex stakeholder landscapes
- Strong English communication skills
Nice to have:
- Experience mapping Azure services to GCP equivalents
- GKE / Kubernetes experience
- Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Python, Bash, or gcloud scripting
- Google Cloud certifications
- Portuguese or Spanish language skills
Engagement: Contract or permanent considered. UK-based preferred, with flexible remote options across the UK and selected EU locations.
