Travel: Regular travel required – car driver essential

We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Senior Dementia Trainer to help us elevate the way we support people living with dementia across our family‑run group of care homes. In this vital role, you will lead, design, and deliver inspiring, high‑quality training that strengthens everyday practice and builds confidence across our teams. Your expertise will help us embed truly person‑centred, dignity‑led care, ensuring every resident experiences empathy, safety, and meaningful connection. Key Responsibilities

  • Training Design & Delivery: Develop and deliver engaging, evidence-based dementia training programmes; tailor training to different audiences, including senior managers, nurses, carers, and support teams; ensure training reflects current best practice, legislation, and sector guidance; evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve content.
  • Coaching & Practice Development: Provide hands‑on coaching and mentoring to managers and teams; support homes with complex dementia presentations and behaviour‑related challenges; model best practice and help teams translate training into daily care; build confidence, capability, and consistency across services.
  • Quality, Compliance & Improvement: Work alongside senior leaders during quality reviews and action planning; identify areas for improvement and contribute to service development; support homes to meet regulatory expectations and internal standards; promote psychological safety, dignity, and person‑centred approaches.
  • Resource Creation: Develop high‑quality training materials, guides, and tools; create practical, accessible resources that support learning and implementation; ensure materials are aligned with Nellsar values and brand.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with the Learning & Development team and senior leadership; contribute to strategic discussions on dementia care and workforce development; represent dementia practice within internal forums and working groups; build strong relationships across all 13 homes.

Person Specification

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Significant experience in dementia care at a senior or specialist level.
  • Strong background in training, coaching, or practice development.
  • Deep understanding of person‑centred dementia models and best practice.
  • Experience supporting teams with complex dementia needs.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Confident, engaging trainer with excellent communication skills.
  • Warm, empathetic, and able to build trust quickly.
  • Creative in designing memorable, practical training.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to influence, inspire, and support cultural change.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential).

Qualifications:

  • Dementia‑related qualification (desirable).
  • Training or teaching qualification (desirable).
