We are looking for an experienced Childrens Mental Health Practitioner to join our Central Basildon PCN for a 12-month fixed term.
As part of the NHS long-term plan, local areas have been asked to realign community mental health services with primary care networks, creating new and integrated models of primary and community mental health care.
PCN\’s Aim To
- Have a key coordinating role at the heart of the GP practices and be a fully integrated member of the multidisciplinary team regarding response and management pathways.
- Provide a combined consultation, advice, triage, and liaison function in accordance with agreed protocols.
- Support children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems through evidence-based interventions.
PCNs (Primary Care Networks) are designed to support children and young people. The Mental Health Senior Practitioner will be responsible for assessment and caseload management within the GP PCN, including case triage, full assessments, and workstream management. They will manage a caseload of CYP with mild to moderate MH needs, working closely with the operations manager and Clinical & Strategic Lead to ensure effective delivery of the PCN initiative in Essex.
This CYP MH Practitioner role supports the development and delivery of the PCN service in Essex. The post holder will deliver evidence-based low-intensity interventions in GP services, support liaison between professionals, and work in partnership with GPs to support children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and young people within this framework, delivering individual and group interventions, managing clinical caseloads, and meeting service targets.
Additional Information
Starting with NELFT, new starters will undergo a comprehensive induction at our head office in Rainham, Essex, including mandatory training, systems training, and equipment allocation. Induction sessions also focus on engagement, health, wellbeing, and key processes.
This post is subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt unless they are currently partway through a probation or are a bank member of staff.

While NELFT is a registered sponsor organization, sponsorship cannot be offered for all roles. Please check eligibility under the UKVI points-based system.
This role attracts a High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum £1,303, maximum £2,198 per annum, pro-rata).
