Senior Account Director – Sustainability Reporting and Communications
London / UK remote
Salary £55,000 – 75,000 p/a
We are working with a leading agency with expertise in sustainability strategy and reporting as well as a creative communications offering. They provide a range of services around sustainability strategy, reporting (both voluntarily and for compliance), through to communications, PR and content for a diverse client roster. The agency is well established and has built a reputation based around its deep knowledge and experience in corporate Sustainability Programmes and reporting compliance. It\’s known for its consultative approach, well-crafted creative output and the emphasis it places on truly understanding the clients that they work with and communicating their goals with regards to Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. This allows them to produce exceptional reports and communications work that is executed to the highest standard and has meant that they have retained clients as well as winning new ones year on year.
The agency in question are looking for a talented Sustainability Reporting Consultant at a Senior Account Director level, who also has some broader Communications experience to work with global clients including some of the world’s leading brands and well know organisations. You’ll work with clients to understand their sustainability strategy, programme materiality and the metrics and frameworks around these and produce high calibre reporting that is compliant and tells the story of their journey. You’ll need to be experienced at working on large scale reports and with frameworks like GRI, IFRS S1 and S2, ESRS under CSRD, UNGPRF, and TCFD/SASB, and any experience of integrated reporting would be an added bonus. You’ll also need to have exposure to communications planning around the release of reporting targeted at different groups of stakeholders.
The role requires someone with extremely strong project oversight skills as you work with multiple stakeholders at blue chip clients as well as internal analysts, copy & creative teams on the content of the report, required disclosures alongside the narrative and creative look and feel of the reporting. You’ll need to have very strong consultation / advisory skills and be a brilliant client leader who enjoys networking, and selling ideas and services into clients.
Clients will be at different points in their sustainability journey, so you will need to adapt to differing requirements – this may mean greater involvement in sustainability strategy and consultancy with clients whilst also working on reporting strategy over multiple years, setting out a roadmap towards particular goals and frameworks or getting them ready for CSRD for example.
The role may involve managing and mentoring Account Directors on the team as well as leading project teams of analysts, researchers, copywriters, and designers – writing briefs for them and reviewing all work. You’ll be supported by a Project Management Support team as you work with internal teams to produce outstanding sustainability reports and engaging, informative and impactful Sustainability communications including web content, social and other marketing around this.
The successful candidate will need to have had demonstrable experience in consulting or leading the development of sustainability reporting for multiple clients in an agency environment. You will need to have a real passion for sustainability reporting along with a knowledge of latest developments to international legislation / frameworks / compliance. You\’ll enjoy consulting with clients about their strategy and goals and working with them to create outstanding reports and related communications for their internal and external stakeholders, investors and other target audiences.
This role will require candidates who:
- Are extremely strong client relationship builders and who work closely and in partnership with internal teams
- Experienced in leading global clients to deliver an extremely high standard of reporting work and related marketing communications
- A deep knowledge and passion for sustainability is a must
- Knowledgeable about international reporting frameworks and standards, such as GRI, IFRS S1 and S2, ESRS (CSRD), TCFD/SASB
- Are familiar with sustainability materiality assessments and stakeholder engagement processes
- Have worked with multiple clients at once in different sectors, jurisdictions, with differing requirements
- Are extremely organised, innovative and have excellent communication skills
- Enjoy leading project teams and helping more junior colleagues
- Enjoy leading new business calls / meetings with prospective clients and working on proposals for them.
