We’re looking for an experienced Echocardiographer to join our multidisciplinary team in Manchester. This is a key role focused on delivering high‑quality, independent echocardiographic assessments. You’ll perform and interpret transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), including Global Longitudinal Strain (GLS), and produce accurate, immediate reports - working autonomously without cardiologist oversight. This is a locum role offering up to two days per week, based at our clinic in central Manchester.

What You’ll Deliver in the First 6–12 Months

  • Conduct comprehensive transthoracic echocardiographic examinations in accordance with British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) standards.
  • Independently interpret and report echocardiographic findings, ensuring timely delivery of results to clients and referring clinicians.
  • Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to integrate echocardiographic findings into holistic health assessments.
  • Participate in regular cardiology multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Liaise directly with our cardiologist where needed.
  • Understand and follow our escalation protocols.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including audit and peer review, to maintain high standards of practice.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to the training of junior staff or students as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

  • BSE Level 2 Transthoracic Echocardiography Accreditation or equivalent, enabling independent reporting of echocardiographic studies without cardiologist review.
  • More than two years experience post BSE level 2 accreditation.
  • Proven experience in performing and interpreting a wide range of echocardiographic studies.
  • Ability to perform Global Longitudinal Strain (GLS is essential).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to clients and colleagues.
  • Commitment to maintaining high clinical standards and engaging in ongoing professional development.

Preferred

  • Ability to perform 3D imaging.
  • Familiarity with integrating echocardiographic data into broader health assessments or preventive health strategies.
  • Previous involvement in health technology initiatives or research projects.
