Role Purpose

We’re looking for an experienced Echocardiographer to join our multidisciplinary team in London. This key role focuses on delivering high‑quality, independent echocardiographic assessments. You’ll perform and interpret transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), including Global Longitudinal Strain (GLS), and produce accurate, immediate reports—working autonomously without cardiologist oversight. This is a locum role based at our clinics in central London; shifts include daytime, evenings, and Saturdays.

What You’ll Deliver in the First 6–12 Months

  • Conduct comprehensive transthoracic echocardiographic examinations in accordance with British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) standards.
  • Independently interpret and report echocardiographic findings, ensuring timely delivery of results to clients and referring clinicians.
  • Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to integrate echocardiographic findings into holistic health assessments.
  • Participate in regular cardiology multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Liaise directly with our cardiologist where needed.
  • Understand and follow our escalation protocols.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including audit and peer review, to maintain high standards of practice.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to the training of junior staff or students as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

  • BSE Level 2 Transthoracic Echocardiography Accreditation or equivalent, enabling independent reporting of echocardiographic studies without cardiologist review.
  • More than two years experience post BSE level 2 accreditation.
  • Proven experience in performing and interpreting a wide range of echocardiographic studies.
  • Ability to perform Global Longitudinal Strain (GLS) is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to clients and colleagues.
  • Commitment to maintaining high clinical standards and engaging in ongoing professional development.

Preferred

  • Ability to perform 3D imaging.
  • Familiarity with integrating echocardiographic data into broader health assessments or preventive health strategies.
  • Previous involvement in health technology initiatives or research projects.
